Its been a month since youve severely cut back your calorie intake to below normal levels and you start to thirst for food. This is almost as bad as last years failed diet where you starved your body of essential carbohydrates. You feel week and unsure. Its only a matter of time before you slip back to old habits and gain it all back and more. Sound familiar? This doesnt have to be any more.

This articles focus is to empower you with the knowledge you need to decipher between which diets are fake and which diets will get you to where you want to be. So let the endless see of diets sit for awhile while you learn the ins and outs of what makes for a great diet that really works.

When you place all diets together you will see that some are talk while others are just what you need. The key thing to look for when deciding on a diet is to look at how fast the diet makes you lose weight. The point being that a good diet will not cause you to lose weight too quickly. Losing body fat too quickly is unnatural, unhealthy, and can lead to weight gain in the near future.

Half of your success depends on you being metally fit. The physical part of the diet should promote things like eating small frequent meals throughout the day and keeping your body hydrated. This will help keep up your metabolism and keep your body running like a well oiled machine throughout the day.

Secondly, the best diets will preach some level of control. If you were to take a minute and ask yourself how you got to the weight you are at right now, Im willing to bet the kitchen sink that it was due to some eating habit that you did not have under control. A good diet will show you how to get a hold of and take control of your bad eating habits.

To top it off, the best diets will preach the most important rule, balance. Now Im not speaking of walking the tight rope, Im speaking in terms of nutritional balance. The right combination of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates mixed with plenty of water is a winning formula for a healthy strong body that is able to shed excess weight.

Bottom line, the best diets should focus on helping your body rather than making it work harder. A good diet helps your bodily functions without starving it of fats, carbs, or proteins. It hydrates the body with plenty of water and preaches good habits like regular exercise and small frequent meals. Here’s a question I received recently. It concerns a recent wedding of two celebrities.

“On Keeping up with the Kardashians. Khloe and her now husband were talking about the number 27. They got married in 9 days. Do you think their marriage will last?” – Linda R.

Linda, I’m not familiar with the show, but I was able to look at Khloe and Lamar Odom’s compatibility.

They actually have much in common, so I can see how they hooked up so fast.

First of all, two of their three most important numbers are in Harmony – and this is a very good sign. Khloe and Lamar also share three of six numbers.

When I see this kind of numbers’ attraction I know the marriage can definitely last.

Keep in mind two things.

They are celebrities which means life isn’t natural. So keeping a marriage going can be daunting, and explains why so many Hollywood unions fail.

Secondly, Khloe needs her freedom and may bolt if she feels too tied down.

**Please note: the context of this post, isn’t applicable to everyone but it’s worth reading and all comments or suggestions are welcome.

I am starting a series on Body Language that would run at least once a week for the next four weeks. It’s centred on the study of The New Psychology Of Body Language by Geoffrey Beattie and Understanding Body Language by Richard Thompson (to mention a few).

What is Body Language?

Michael Argyle and Peter Trower state humans express themselves in 2 distinct forms (a) language (through the use of words) and (b) non verbal communication.

Body language is a form of non verbal communication which is expressed through body pose, gestures, eye movements, hand signals etc.

The benefits of body language are as follows:

It aids constructive interaction with people It helps in convincing others to accept what you say. It could prevent misunderstandings. It increases your chances of dating people and building relationships. It helps understand our feelings and acknowledge the feelings of others.

The aim of this post is to highlight (expose laugh!!) simple body language signs that represent certain behaviours, character, attitudes you exhibit in our daily lives. The following body language signs are based on the feedback from questionnaires filled out by friends identifying those signs common to them.

(Self Esteem/Confidence) Body Language Signs

Hands behind the back show you are confident, relaxed, appear to know what you are talking about, a bit authoritative, powerful and comfortable. Head lowered indicates low self confidence, guilt and acceptance of defeat. Running fingers through hair could mean you are showing confidence in your looks, trying to gain attention or is visibly frustrated at certain events happening at that time. A smart or brisk walk with an upright posture could indicate a healthy level of self esteem and confidence. Constant pulling, scratching or patting down the hair shows low self confidence and insecurity. Avoiding eye contact displays lack of confidence, fear, guilt and in exceptional cases it could be a sign of submission if the eyes are lowered. Continuous blinking of the eye indicates nervousness.

(Thinking/Decision Making) Body Language Signs

Stroking the chin could mean you are about to make a decision. Hands on the cheek connote thinking. Looking directly upwards or hands on the forehead shows you are thinking deeply. Looking upwards and to the right indicates you are trying hard to remember something.

(Showing Interest) Body Language Signs

A tilted head (sometimes backwards) indicates you are showing keen interest in something occurring at that time. It could be a particular topic, movie, discussion, person etc. Stroking the front of the neck could mean showing concern for what someone else is saying. Nodding casually and occasionally indicates you are listening and is interested in what’s been said. A bright or widening eye shows a high level of interest in what’s been said or discussed.

(Not Interested) Body Language Signs

Eyes roaming all over the place implies you’ve lost interest, is bored and not listening. Excessive nodding gives the impression you’ve lost interest and would just want to end the conversation. Tugging the ear means you are undecided. Rubbing the nose shows you don’t agree with what is being said and doubts the concept of the discussion. Kicking lightly or tapping your foot suggests you are completely bored and you’ve exhausted all your patience.

(Irritation) Body Language Signs

A break in eye contact could mean you feel threatened, insulted, irritated or your lies have been exposed. Quick glances into space during a conversation could mean you were irritated by the last statement made.

(Gossip) Body Language Signs

Eyes moving from side to side during a conversation could suggest other people shouldn’t hear or get involved in your discussion, gossip and slander. Once again, a bright or widening eye shows could show a high level of interest in the discussion (gossip). Touching or pulling the ear indicates you are possibly lying about someone or something.

(Being Open) Body Language Signs

Open arms indicates you are approachable, love, show warmth, give affection, is friendly etc. Palms touching the chest could imply your honesty. Upward hand gestures expresses and open and positive message. Smiling also shows you are comfortable, warm, friendly, easy going etc.

(Anxiety) Body Language Signs.

Sweaty palms in some cases reflect anxiety. Fingers crossed could signify hope or a bit of anxiety Clearing the throat or swallowing air could mean a display of anxiety. Tapping or drumming fingers shows impatience and frustration. Biting your fingernails (not the bad habit) indicates nervousness and anxiety. Fiddling with all kinds of items within your reach could mean you are anxious, bored, nervous etc.

(Possible Flirting) Body Language Signs

Sizing up a person from head to toe could mean you are ‘checking them out’. Eyebrows rising and falling means you are attracted to the person you are looking at. Smiling also depicts you are pleased to see the person. Stealing glances or a continuous gaze at someone suggests you have a desire to know that person. Chest up and forward in men symbolizes a show of strength and for women it could be seen as a provocative romantic display. Hips pushed forward while leaning back is a provocative and suggestive gesture. Fixing collars, pulling up socks, hands in pockets are a few ways the male ego manifests.

Figuring out how to tone up arms can be extremely difficult if your source of advice is questionable. And unfortunately, most information on the internet is questionable. Thus, many women are completely lost when it comes to getting the lean and sexy arms of their dreams.

I can tell because of all the emails I receive.

And don’t be too hard on yourself. After all, a lot of this confusion is created by questionable marketing that will make your purse lighter while your arms get heavier.

So here are some common misconceptions on how to tone up arms:

1. Exercising on a daily basis is the best approach. This is a great way to get an overuse injury. Please do not try to do this. After all, once you tweak a tendon or ligament, healing will take a very long time. Your body needs proper rest.

2. Something is wrong if one arm is stronger than the other. Nothing could be further from the truth, this is perfectly normal. Over time, this discrepancy will begin to fade. Just make sure that you do unilateral movements.

3. 15 rep sets provide maximum arm toning. Well, not really because you do not have to do 15 repetitions for every single set you do. Instead, aim for a more varied number of repetitions so that you target all of your muscle fibers.

4. If I get tired I should stop. Stop if you feel sick, otherwise keep on going. Bear in mind that when you push yourself really hard, your body secretes hormones that incinerate arm fat. There is no other way to get these hormones flowing.

5. If you’re sore a couple days after exercising, something is wrong! This simply means that you had an intense workout-just what you need to do to tone up those arms. And keep in mind that this delayed soreness will decrease as you eat better and your body learns to recover faster.

Figuring out how to tone up arms does not have to be difficult. In fact, if you stay away from all the misinformation out there, it’s much easier than you think. And the key here is to apply information immediately. Do not wait until tomorrow!

Low back pain is thought to affect 80% of the population at some times in their lives. This means that all of us at some point may experience some level of back pain. This may be aggravated by certain activities or happen because of an accident. What happens is the stress on your spine becomes concentrated which puts enormous stress. This stress will fatigue the soft tissues and muscles making them become stiff and hurt. Many people are turning to massage chairs as a convenient method to reduce the stiffness and pain associated with low back problems.

One of the most important areas for low back pain is prevention. There are many things you can do proactively to minimize the occurrence of low back problems. Prevention means you have to be aware of things that can impact your back health in a negative way. By changing some of the most basic habits with respect to sitting, standing and lifting you can reduce the occurrence of low back pain.

The first areas of prevention are making sure you use correct posture when standing, sitting and lifting. These 3 activities constitute the highest percentage of injuries to the lower back. For instance, if you slouch forward, then this places more strain on the upper back to compensate. This can be corrected instantly by putting your shoulders back and sitting upright. This prevents the concentration of force which through time can help to misalign the back.

What about activities that involve lifting. Learning proper lifting techniques are important. When you pick up heavier items, they can do more damage to your back. Heavier items have more mass and require more effort which puts more strain on your back. When lifting items, it is critical to use your legs. Bend your knees and let your legs do the lifting, not your back.
